What is physiotherapy?

If you’re new to physiotherapy, we’re excited to share how it may be able to support your wellness goals.

Physiotherapists are licensed healthcare professionals who work autonomously and collaboratively alongside physicians and healthcare teams. With a patient-centred approach, physiotherapists use evidence-informed knowledge of rehabilitation sciences, anatomy, kinesiology and physiology to assess, treat, and manage pain, injuries, movement dysfunction, and chronic conditionsThe goal of physiotherapy is to empower, promote independence and improve the quality of life across all ages and abilities

Physiotherapists work with clients of all ages and with a wide range of health conditions. Whether it’s pain management and rehabilitation from an acute injury like a sprained ankle or management of chronic conditions such as diabetes or heart disease, a physiotherapist can help. They also provide education and treatment aimed at health promotion and disease and injury prevention.

  • Personalized exercise programs designed to improve strength, range of motion, and function

  • Joint mobilization and manipulation to reduce pain and stiffness

  • Modalities to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and improve movement and function

  • Airway-clearance methods to assist people with breathing difficulties

Which services are virtual and which are in-person?

Services suited to in-person care include: Craniosacral Therapy, Intramuscular Stimulation, and Anatomical Acupuncture. Book an in-person session with Meghan Curle at our Whistler, British Columbia clinic. All other services can be in person or online. See all our services here.

How does virtual physiotherapy work?

Virtual Physiotherapy, also known as Telehealth, is an online one-to-one video appointment with your physiotherapist. Attend your virtual appointment from home, the office, or even at the gym. Your physiotherapist will take you through an assessment of movement and mobility to help establish a working diagnosis of your injury and you’ll receive education and advice for managing your injury and/or pain. What is telehealth?

Telehealth is the technology that connect patients to health care services, regardless of where they live. Using Telehealth, patients can see and talk to their health care providers over a secure and private network, facilitating supported and timely health care decisions. 

Is virtual care, telehealth, covered under insurance benefits?

Likely, yes. Many insurers accept Telehealth care as part of a clients’ physiotherapy benefits, including, but not limited to, Great West Life and Sunlife. Check with your provider to be certain.

Are remote exercise programs covered under insurance benefits?

If your insurer covers Telehealth appointments, then yes, they are. All of our programs incorporate Telehealth physiotherapy sessions.

What is the 48-hour communication commitment?

If you are participating in a Remote Exercise Program (REP), your physiotherapist will respond to you and anything you share—comments, questions, exercise videos—within 48-hours. Guaranteed.

What is the cancelation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than that, or who miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee.

What is the return policy?

For any products purchased through our Shop we are happy to exchange or provide a refund within 14 days of your purchase. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
